We are very excited to introduce you to our newest Knee Patient Testimonial, Bill! Bill received an Arthrosurface Knee implant back in 2015. Now, 4 years later, Bill works as a software test manager for Accenture. Prior to that, he was a personnel systems manager in the Air Force for 20 years. This is where, at 33 years old he developed his love of running. He was able to get pretty fast, too, running at a pace of 5 1/2 minutes per mile.
One day, Bill was out in the yard pushing a wheel barrel when he walked into a ditch, twisted his knee and felt a tweak that gave him an idea that something was wrong. Over the next few months, he tried to push through pain, but it became clear that this knee pain was preventing him from doing the things that he loved, like running and riding his bike. Bill was not willing to give up his active lifestyle and sought the opinion of a doctor to see if there was anything that they could do to relieve his pain.
When Bill met with Dr. Travis Burns, he stressed the importance of being able to stay active®. Dr. Burns told him that if he wanted to sit on the sidelines and watch people race, he could get a traditional total knee replacement. Knowing that that was ideal for Bill, Dr. Burns also mentioned the Arthrosurface Knee Implant System as an option. He told Bill that he might be able to continue running competitively after receiving this joint preserving implant. Once Bill heard this, he was all in.
In 2015, Bill had surgery and now, over 4 years later he is feeling great. Bill said, “I would like to thank the Arthrosurface folks, it has gotten me back to racing and running and let me do what I really love to do. It’s given me my life back!”
Bill’s patient story video took place during a race in San Antonio, TX where he placed 3rd overall! Keep up the good work Bill! You can watch his full video below.
